Last year we shipped over 4,500 antique maps to more than 50 countries. Maps are shipped Monday through Friday year-round. If an order is received before 2 PM PST, we will ship the order that day. If an order is received after that time, we will ship the next day. We ship maps either flat in custom packages or in specially ordered thick tubes. Shipping rates are provided as part of the checkout process.

Description

This 1777 map offers a detailed representation of Newfoundland, drawn from the works of Jacques Nicolas Bellin and published in Livorno, Italy, by Marco Coltellini. It was initially published in the Italian edition of Il Gazzettiere Americano, enhanced with elaborate cartouches and fine engraving, showcasing the cartographic excellence of the era.

Originating from Il Gazzettiere Americano, this map is part of a three-volume atlas that represents the Italian translation of The American Gazetteer, first published in London. This Italian rendition, enriched with annotations and additional maps, marked a significant milestone in the dissemination of geographic knowledge within Italy.

Map of Hudson Bay based on Jacques Nicholas Bellin's map of the area, "Carte des Parties du Nord-Ouest de l'Amerique," engraved by Veremondo Rossi and published by Livorno-based printer Marco Coltellini. Coltellini published Il Gazzettiere americano, the first Italian translation of J. Millar's American Gazetteer, which was published one year earlier in London. Giovanni Tommaso Masi republished the maps from Coltellini's edition in his atlas Atlante Dell'America in 1777.
