Description

Scarce vintage pictorial bird's-eye view of Green Bay, Wisconsin, prepared by Tim Helstad and Steve McLeod of Our Town Graphics and published in 1985.

The view features Lambeau Field, home of the NFL's Green Bay Packers, as well as dozens of other local businesses.

These kinds of promotional view posters proliferated in the 1970s-1990s, though their separate and ephemeral nature means that most are very hard to find today.

A note in the upper-left corner reads:

Green Bay is located in northeastern Wisconsin at the junction of the Fox and East Rivers that empties into the bay of Green Bay. The city of Green Bay is in Brown County covering 44 square miles. It is part of an urban area including Allouez, Ashwaubenon, De Pere, Bellevue and Howard 580 ft. above sea level, on rolling hills.

Recorded history began when Jean Nicolet, a French explorer, stepped ashore just northeast of the present city in 1634. He called this area La Baye Verte because of the greenish bay water.

The estimated population of the city is 90,000 and the areas lifestyle is rich in industry, culture, recreation and seasonal beauty.
