Rare Pictorial World Map, prepared as a promotional premium to promote the Captain Ezra Diamond Radio Show.
Captain Ezra Diamond was the fictional spokesperson for the Diamond Salt Company began in the early 1930s. The company itself began some 50 years before in 1888.
Several spots, such as the Peary Monument and Golden Gate Bridge, were under construction at the time of publication, while other illustrations show local inhabitants, wildlife and agriculture. Images of Poseidon, sea monsters and a decorative compass rose add to the adventurous theme, while diagrams of sailing ships at the bottom provide visual points of reference for eager listeners.
Captain Ezra Diamond
A noble seaman and adventurer, the Captain began to air in his own radio program, The Adventures of Captain Ezra Diamond, on the NBC Blue network. He also appeared in print ads, which established an exciting world for the seaman. The promos even included sporadic premiums like this Adventure Map of Captain Ezra Diamond.
