Interesting map of North America, showing many Indian Tribes throughout Canada and the US. Alaska is Russian America.
The map provides an excellent depiction of the early territorial borders of the Transmississippi West.
- Oregon Territory and Washington Territory extend to the Rocky Mountains
- Nebraska Territory extends to the Canadian Border, including the future states of Wyoming and Montana
- Utah Territory extends from California to Kanzas Territory
- New Mexico Territory extends from California to Texas
- Arizona is shown below New Mexico, although several years before it achieved territorial status
- Kanzas Territory is spelled with a Z, a short lived depiction.
Condition Description
Engraving on 19th-century wove paper. Hand-coloring. Very minor toning at center fold and border edges.
