The Savannah Line

Striking large format map focued on the Southeastern part of the United States and Cuba, illustrating the Winter Camps of the U.S. Army.

The map provides a detailed illustration of the Central of Georgia Railway's network as it weaves through the southern United States, accompanied by its maritime links to Cuba. Additionally, it pinpoints the deployment of United States military forces across Cuban soil.

An ancillary map inset presents a view of Puerto Rico, enhancing the map's geographic scope. Above the main map, the winter encampments of the U.S. Army are vividly portrayed with accompanying illustrations.

The map further includes a comprehensive index measuring the distances in miles between various Cuban localities, alongside an enumeration of the U.S. military contingents stationed in the Division of Cuba as of January 1899, complete with a roster of the commanding officers in the region.

On the reverse side, one finds an extensive narrative spanning 30 panels, delving into the historical tapestry of Cuba, encompassing both general history and specific details regarding its provinces and principal cities.

Issued during the Spanish American War, the verso includes extensive descriptive text, primarily focused on Cuba, its history and regions.
