Felix Delamarche was the son of Charles Francois Delamarche, who had inherited the publishing business of the Robert De Vaugondy family in 1786, which at the time was one of the leading publishers of atlases and other cartographic material in Paris. Felix succeeded to ownership of the Delamarche publishing house with the death of his father in 1811 and later collaborated with Globe and Sphere maker Charles Dien.
