Heinrich von Mayr (German, 1806-1871) was a distinguished artist and painter.  He is probably best known for his Genrebilder aus dem Orient, Stuttgart, 1846.  He was also a well regarded designer, who decorated for a number of European royals.  He also invented a baking clay of some note.

In 1838, Heinrich von Mayr accompanied Herzog Maximilian in Bayern, father to Empress Elisabeth of Austria, made an 8-month expedition to the Orient and travelled through Egypt, Nubia, Syria and Palestine.
