Last year we shipped over 4,500 antique maps to more than 50 countries. Maps are shipped Monday through Friday year-round. If an order is received before 2 PM PST, we will ship the order that day. If an order is received after that time, we will ship the next day. We ship maps either flat in custom packages or in specially ordered thick tubes. Shipping rates are provided as part of the checkout process.

Description

Gorgeous early example of Mercator's map of Europe from his Atlas Sive Cosmographia, first published in 1595.

Includes an ornate cartouche. The map was updated and the cartouche etc. changed in 1606.

Condition Description

Original hand-color in full. Some oxidation and color offsetting, some areas reinforced with thin archival tissue on verso. Short hairline crack at '"Paliara". Bottom margin extended with laid paper from neatline and old restoration to top two corners. Signature 'H' on verso (1623).
