Scarce early image of masked helmet of a Hawaiian Island warrior, published in Erinnerungen an merkwürdige Gegenstände und Begebenheiten, verbunden mit erheiternden Erzählungen.

This image is based on a drawing by John Webber, which first appeared as an engraving in the official account of Cook's third voyage, 'A voyage to the Pacific Ocean', published by Scatcherd and Whitaker in 1784.
