Description

Fine, French map of the theater of conflict during the Spanish-American War, showing a vastly oversized Cuba and Hispaniola along with thirty-two different American and Spanish ships from the conflict.

Four sites of importance to the conflict are shown in the corners, and the dress of the American and Spanish armies appears in vignettes in the borders. A lengthy text description at the bottom describes the state of conflict in Cuba, the primary center of the conflict.

The map was printed in Paris and distributed in Toulouse by readers of the newspaper La Depeche.

There are at least two variant editions. The present edition includes "F. Menetrier Del." at the lower left and "Grave et Imprime par Charaire" at the lower right.  Another edition lacks the Menetrier imprint.
