A fine and scarce lithograph of the northwest of Paris, showing the region now known as the Third and Eleventh Arrondissements. At the time when this lithograph was produced, this area was part of the Eighth Arrondissements (out of twelve), with parts of neighboring districts tinted to a darker color. The view is stated as taken from above Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais, suggesting that the basis of this work likely came from a sketch taken from a hot air balloon.

Great lithographed view of Paris focusing on the Louvre and showing the heart of the city in the Rive Droite. Detail is fabulous with the geometric layout of the city richly evident, and it, along with the titling that states that the view was drawn from above the Pont des Arts, suggests that the view was based on one sketched in a Montgolfiere. The area, now part of the "2nd Arrondissement," was considered as part of the 8th in the 1840s, when this lithograph was made.
