Delightful 1930s pencil sharpener map of the world, produced in Japan.
The map shows the hallmarks of mid-1930s world geography. Colonial powers hold much of Africa, and Italy appears to hold Ethiopia, which helps to date the map. Japan itself holds Korea but has not expanded further into Asia. Flags are shown above major nations.
In all, a delightful piece showing the pre-war global outlook in Japan.
We have been unable to locate any further examples of the sharpener through database searches of the maker's name.
Metal pencil sharpener in two snug-fit hemispheres. Minor faint rust spots but still bright.
