Very scarce pictorial map of Buffalo, New York. Containing three map images in total and a number of images of the city, this map is notable for being locally printed in Buffalo itself by J. W. Clement Co.
The large map on the front shows the city of Buffalo and its surroundings, extending as far as Cleveland and Toronto. Major points of interest are shown pictorially, including Old Fort Niagara, the Grave of Mark Twain, and Cornell University. An inset to the map shows the great Northeast region. On the verso is a detailed pictorial map of Buffalo, completed in a classic 1930s style and showing street names and more.
We date the map from its reference to the NBC Blue and NBC Red radio stations, which constrains the dating of the map to between 1927 and 1942.
Rarity
We trace two institutional examples of the map through OCLC, at the Buffalo & Erie Public Library and at the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village. We trace no examples having traded on the market.
