Description

Interesting World War II-era map of Europe from the perspective of Nazi Germany, issued in 1940, prior to the invasion of France and the Soviet Union.

The map was issued by the Kartographischer Verlag Freissler, operated by Max Freissler, in Vienna, which was at that point part of Nazi Germany.

The map shows the operational capacity of the Luftwaffe, the German Air Force, extending in waves from Germany and Norway across France, the British Isles, and the North Atlantic. An inset map in the upper-left corner shows the relative ranges of the Royal Air Force and the Luftwaffe. The map covers additional strategic issues such as the placement of maritime minefields and the Siegfried and Maginot Lines.

At the left side of the map is a series of diagrams showing the aircraft of the Royal Air Force and the French air force.

Additionally, the map shows what appear to be commercial air routes from Germany to major European cities, such as Moscow.
