Interesting Kosovo War map of the region, showing routes that have been declared mine-free or otherwise safe for travel.
The map was prepared by the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR), which was the international peacekeeping force that oversees Kosovo's sovereignty and security until the local Security Force becomes fully self-sufficient.
The map illustrates mine fields and cluster bomb units; KFOR Routes; EOD Proven Routes; and Proven Routes.
The map includes the following note:
KFOR named routes are considered safe. Although every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the proven route information depicted on this map, users should check with relevant MNB before venturing off main MSR's. Off route travel remains extremely hazardous due to mine and cluster bomb threat. In some brigade areas a certain amount of interpretation has been necessary, due to inaccuracies in mapping and actual road alignment.
