Description
Wonderful pictorial bird's eye view of the 1933-'34 Chicago World's Fair, which was called "A Century of Progress International Exposition."
The map shows the Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, and Soldier Field at the right (north) side.
The villages are reflective of the American worldview at the time and are partially reflective of the ethnic background of the citizens of the United States. The fair has an Old English Village, Black Forest Village, Irish Village, Italian Village, as well as a "Midget Village".
Byrd's Polar Ship is docked in the fair lagoon.
This particular view was issued as a promotion for Pure Oil Company.
