News Map of the Week map of the world for the week ending January 7, 1952.
The map reflects on the year that had passed, with a large section devoted to the main events of 1951.
One would be hard-pressed to find a more characteristically Cold War-themed world map. The map announces the arrest of the "politburo" of the U.S. Communist Party, the return of General MacArthur after his removal from command in Korea, atomic weapons test in Nevada, the end of the Marshall Plan, and the return of U.S. Air Force men from captivity in Hungary.
Photos of Churchill visiting the U.S. and American soldiers underneath a mushroom cloud illustrated the bottom of the map.
