Description

Rare sea chart of the Bay of Cadiz, from a sea atlas by Jacob Robyn. Robyn acquired Pieter Goos business and continued publishing his sea atlases during the later part of the 17th Century. However, this is one of the few maps for which he was directlly responsible. Robyn's works are quite rare on the market, with only a handful of separate charts offered over the past 20 years in dealer catalogues. Cadiz was at the time the primary Spanish sea port. The map includes many sailing ships, compass rose a plan of the city of Cadiz, soundings, rhumb lines and other details. Elegant cartouche finishes the map.
