Description

Vibrant print advertising train tours through Ireland. Poster features illustrated scenes from places in Ireland, mostly in Connemara and Sligo counties. The title text is artfully stylized, imitating monastic manuscripts and their ornate font.

Below the advertisement is some text written in French. The author of this poster, J. Hugo d'Alesi, was an artist who specialized in producing ads promoting travel, particularly in the burgeoning railway industry. d'Alesi helped popularize tourism by rail through his vivid depictions of desirable locales. This print is an excellent example of his influential work.
