Stunning Portolan Style poster of the World, illustrating the Portuguese discoveries around the world during the 15th and 16th Centuries.

The post bears the date Maio de 1970 (May 1970), and would appear to have been prepared by the Pelo Dessoal Tecnico (Technical Staff) for an exhibtion at the Museu de Marinha (Maritime Museum), in Lisbon.

The map shows the routes of a number of early explorers around th World, highlighting the regions first discovered and/or explored by the Portuguese, during the early age of exploration.

The map is embellished in the decorative style of the most lavish Portolan maps of the 15th and 16th Centuries.
