Finely engraved map of the classical World, which appeared in the 1661 edition of Cluver's Introductionis in Universam Geographicam.
The map is based upon Abraham Ortelius' ancient map of the World, later re-issued by Jan Jansson.
Europe, Asia and Africa (as far south as Madagascar) are placed at the center of a much larger oval frame that continues to the Antarctic. The climatic zones are identified. The title is enclosed in a lovely strapwork panel at top.
