Description
Extremely rare separately issued map of Minnesota Territory, engraved by Friend & Aub Lithographers in Philadelphia for Meyer & Minden in St. Paul, Minnesota Territory.
The map is hand colored by counties. A portion of the map shows the early township surveys in Minnesota Territory, with an inset map of St. Paul at the top. Early roads are shown, along with towns, rivers and lakes. Among the more interesting early place names is the Norwegian Settlement in Fillmore County.
The map notes that it was entered for copyright in the Second Judicial District, Territory of Minnesota.
The map is extremely rare. We note only the example offered in the Streeter Sale in 1969.
Condition Description
Pocket map in original brown embossed covers, with gilt title. Minor fold breaks and discoloration, but a nice example.
