If an order is received after that time, we will ship the next day. We ship maps either flat in custom packages or in specially ordered thick tubes. Description

Highly detailed view of Des Moines Iowa, published by Mills & Co, promoting the Hawkeye Insurance Company.

The map was apparently included as an insert to a local Des Moines Newspaper. The Persinger Saturday Times was a short lived periodical, which existed from April 1885 to December 1887. It must be assumed that this view was an insert to a December 1885 edition. We find no references to the Persinger Holiday Times as a separate publication.

Reps notes an earlier view by Mills & Co., dated 1876, which is 35 x 19 inches (Reps 1031). This would appear to be a different (and possibly unrecorded view). The view is taken from a different perspective than the 1868 Ruger View of De Moines and shows a much larger city.

Condition Description

Flattened and laid on thin sheet of archival paper. Minor fold weakness, minor tears and minor losses, supported on verso.
