Rare 1704 edition of this speparately issued map of North America, after Coronelli. The map is a melange of detail, annotation and cartographic curiosity. California is an immense island, with dozens of place names, The Great Lakes are based upon Coronelli's famous regional map. The Mississippi River is pushed far west of its proper course. The Gulf Coast, while distorted, is extremely detailed. The western coast of Florida is similarly detailed and unusual in it attempt to portray the many bays and inlets. Over all good copy of this map, dissected and laid on 20th Century linen to stabilize several minor tears. Rare 3rd state of McLaughlin 99, first issued by Coronelli in Venice.
