Revised and updated edition of Thomas Jefferys seminal map of the Northwest Coast of America and Northeast Coast of Asia, which reported on the Russian discoveries of Captains Bering and Tschirikow along the Northwest Coast of America. The map tracks the routes of Bering and Tschirkow, along with 3 anonymous Russian Voyages exploring the Northeast Passage, and the Tracks of the Cossack Schestakow and Captain Panlutzki overland in Siberia. The annotations include dates of various landings throughout the map, most notably along the coast of Alaska and the Western Canadian Coastline. While De Font and De Fuca are noted, along w/ the River of the West still traversing the interior to Hudson's Bay, the cartography is much more conservative. Wagner 597.
