Description

Rare printed broadside, showing the progress of the Civil War from a decidedly Northern viewpoint.

While there is no publisher's information, it is likely that the map was published in July 1863 in New York, during or immediately after Draft Riots of New York resulted in massive unrest in the City, which lead President Lincoln to send several regiments of troops to the City to calm the unrest caused by new Congressional Draft laws passed that month. The civil unrest resulted in significant any African American sentiments and violence in the City, leading General John E. Wool to call for a declaration of Martial Law.

We have not been able to locate another example of this printed broadside.
