Description
A rare world map from Johann Hubner's Neu vermehrtes und verbessertes Reals Staats Zeittungs…. published in Regensburg by Emerich Felix Babers in 1745.
The map shows a classical early 18th Century world, featuring California as an Island, the Northwest Coast of America extending nearly due west toward Asia, a partial New Zealand and Australia, no definite Southern Continent and an exaggerated Eastward extension to South America.
The map is embellished with celestial globes, an armillary sphere, numerous classical studies of the heavens and a group of cherubs making astronomical observations.
A fascinating and apparently rare map, having never been listed in AMPR.
