Description
Scarce map of the United States, published in London.
The map includes several curious Territories and configurations:
- Texas is shown in its pre-1850 configuration, before the Compromise of 1850 set the state boundary with New Mexico.
- Iowa is oddly shaped.
- There is no Minnesota Territory (created in 1849), but a large Dacota Territory is shown.
- Nebraska Territory is shown (created in 1854).
- Unusual Western Territory.
Were it not for Nebraska, we would have assumed the map was published in about 1848-50.
Condition Description
Moderate foxing and offsetting.
