Description

Interesting map of the United States published in Paris by Armand Le Chevalier during the U.S. Civil War.

The map differentiates between Confederate and Union areas.

The map shows an unusual Nevada-Utah-Colona configuration, Colona being the unrealized predecessor to modern-day Colorado.

The Territory of Colorado was created in February of 1861, whereas the Civil War began in April of that year, therefore a map with Colona and the Confederacy is anachronistic but not surprising. French makers were still adding Colona to their U.S. maps in 1865.

Rarity

Scarce. This being the first time we have had the map.
