Idaho Below Montana?
Scarce map of the Western United States from an unsual late edition of Meyer's Hand Atlas.
The printing quality and detail of this map are noteworthy.
The most unusual feature is the fascinating and probably unique configuration of Idaho, extending from Oregon to Nebraska, with a serpentine Northern border with Montana unlike any we have ever seen.
California extends east to the Colorado River, thereby adding a large chunk of Nevada and Arizona to its area. The California-Nevada border is also quite odd. The map names dozens of Indian Tribes, Forts, mountains (with elevations), rivers, and is generally one of the most detailed we have seen for the period.
An essential map for Idaho collectors and generally a great map of the West and Pacific Northwest.
