Description

Fine example of A.R. Fremin's map of Asia, from his Atlas Moderne, published in Paris.

This map represents the continent with a level of detail indicative of the geographic knowledge available at the time. The map is color-coded to differentiate political boundaries or regions, with each country or area shaded distinctly. The vast expanse of Russia dominates the northern part of the continent, while the central region showcases the complex terrain and political divisions of the Middle East and Central Asia.

Intricately rendered, the map displays mountain ranges, rivers, and other topographical features, suggesting a focus on physical geography as well as political delineations. Notably, the map includes the Indian subcontinent prominently, reflecting the colonial interests of the period, particularly the British Empire's presence.

The lower right corner seems to include a scale of miles.
