Description

Interesting map of California, originally published by the Shell Oil Company, revised to April 4, 1940.

The map is a remarkable compilation of oil fields around California.

A pencil note suggests that the map was a draft for a new map for the "Cooperative Well Velocity Surveying Group."   Includes notes, "Location of wells in which velocity surveys have been run."

The Cooperative Well Velocity Surveying Group was organized in July of 1938.  By the end of 1941, they had surveyed about 80 wells in the San Joaquin Valley.
