Description
Scarce miniature map of "Abyssinia or Ethiopia", from the exceedingly rare Nurmberg edition of DuVal's La Geographie Universelle, first published in Paris in 1660.
The map extends from the Red Sea and Nubia in the north to the Mountains of the Moon and the two large lakes which are the source of the Nile, along with the Coastal regions of 17th Century Zanzibar.
A fascinating mix of legend and limited understanding of the region in the late 17th Century.
