Description

This railway poster and accompanying pamphlet feature a pictorial map by artist Alfred E. Taylor N.R.D.

Exhibited originally as a painting at the offices of the Associated British and Irish Railways in New York the map was intended to promote and attract visitors to the British Isles by showcasing a range of landmarks and notable buildings through small, detailed illustrations.

The map itself is filled with visual representations of various points of interest throughout Britain and Ireland. On the back, black and white images are paired with brief descriptions, providing more information about the illustrated sites.

Taylor's map was part of an effort to boost tourism after World War II by highlighting the cultural and historical richness of the British Isles. It serves as a visual guide to the region, combining practical information with artistic representation.
