Description

Los Angeles Oil Production

A fine map showing the Newhall, Aliso Canyon, Newhall-Potrero, Del Valle, and Oak Canyon oil fields in Los Angeles. The chart shows many scattered wells and claims throughout,  indicating the rich natural resources of the area. Some spaces have more wells built on them while others are only occupied by one company.

Produced by the state of California's Department of Natural Resources, the map is carefully divided into sections with each section owned by some entity. The map is quite thorough in naming these claims to properly establish what companies own which wells. These wells are depicted as a myriad of symbols, each one indicating a different state of operation of a well, such as a filled circle meaning a completed and producing well while a circle with four lines through it means an abandoned natural gas site.

A fine depiction of one section of California's profitable oil industry in beautiful Los Angeles County.
