Description

Percival Lowell Mars?

Large poster produced by the American Map Company, featuring an array of photos and artist conceptions that depict our solar system. There are some rather impressive photographs of the moon from Earth, a total eclipse of the sun, Brook's Comet, and the surface of the moon. There are also a few artistic renditions, the most notable one being Mars (after Percival Lowell?) from Deimos.

The bottom portion of the poster features a very intricately detailed and labeled map of the moon. Besides this is a basic layout of the Solar System with an illustration and accompanying table of the relative diameters and distances of the planets. The final illustration in this section is a scientific picture of the atmosphere of the planet. The diagram shows the different layers and names of the atmosphere as well as their distances in miles from the surface of Earth.
