Buffalo Bill's Old Hunting Lodge

Striking pictorial promotional map of the "Cody Road" to Yellowstone, published to promote the Pahaska Tepee at the East Entrance of Yellowstone Park.

Drawn by well regarded American muralist Edward T. Grigware, the map dramatically depicts the Cody Road in bold colors.

The map shows the road from Cody Wyoming to the east entrance of the Park, complete with decorative vignettes along the route.

A detailed log showing sites and distances is shown at the left, with promotional information and photos on the verso.

Edward T. Grigware Biography

Born in Paceville, Michigan, on April 3, 1889, Edward T. Grigware quickly rose to prominence in the American art scene. He began his artistic journey in Chicago, joining the Chicago Association of Painters and Sculptors. His undeniable talent soon found a platform at the Art Institute of Chicago, where his work was exhibited in 1927.

In 1936, Grigware moved to Cody, Wyoming, marking a significant phase in his career. Here, he painted his most notable piece, a mural for the Cody Mural Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But his association with the LDS Church didn't end there; Grigware also adorned chapels in Los Angeles and Honolulu with his artistic flair. Beyond religious edifices, his artistry found a place in financial institutions, with murals painted in banks in Spokane and Seattle. His significant contributions to art earned him a place in the collection of the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture in Spokane, Washington.

Grigware's journey ended on January 10, 1960, in Cody, Wyoming. Yet, his legacy as a master muralist remains, inspiring generations and serving as a testament to his passion and skill in the world of art.
