The allure of Catalina Island is exquisitely captured in a pictorial promotional brochure map, enticing visitors with its vivid depictions and compelling descriptions. Known as a "Pleasure Island," Catalina, as presented in the brochure, is a realm of diverse recreational activities set against a backdrop of striking natural beauty.

Catalina Island, positioned off the coast of California, is characterized by its length of 22 miles and width varying between a quarter to seven and a half miles. The island's rugged, mountainous terrain reaches its zenith at Orizaba, the highest peak standing at 2111 feet. The island's topography, however, isn't just a spectacle to behold but a playground for adventurous spirits. Visitors are drawn to the multitude of activities, ranging from bathing, boating, fishing, and golf, to tennis, mountain climbing, horseback riding, and excursions by land and sea.

A distinct feature highlighted in the brochure is the Catalina Cathedral Chimes. Situated in a Spanish tower nestled between the St. Catherine Hotel and the town, these chimes sound every quarter-hour, serenading the arrivals and departures of the steamer—a charming detail imbuing a sense of welcoming and farewell.

Among Catalina's many attractions, the brochure particularly emphasizes the unique experience offered by the famous glass-bottom boats. These boats provide a mesmerizing view of the Submarine Gardens, teeming with a kaleidoscope of fish and flourishing kelp forests. Visitors are guided by a lecturer explaining the underwater spectacle, while a deep-sea diver gives a live demonstration, making this a truly immersive experience.

The brochure also introduces the Catalina Country Club, a recent addition to the island's offerings. With its striking architecture, lush gardens, and tranquil pools, the club provides luxurious facilities, including lounges, restrooms, lockers, and refreshment services. A unique feature is its physical development unit, complete with Turkish baths, fresh and saltwater tubs and showers, and osteopathic and chiropractic treatments.

The golfing facilities are a key highlight of the club. The links are meticulously maintained, featuring wonderful fairways, grass greens, and sand traps. The Avalon course is particularly acclaimed for being one of the sportiest in the West. Adjacent to the clubhouse is a baseball diamond, the training ground for the Chicago Cubs baseball team, further cementing the island's status as a sports enthusiast's paradise.
