Description
An uncommon group portrait of Native Americans at Cushing, Oklahoma Territory, by photographer J. F. Shore. The group, possibly Pawnee, Sac or Fox, comprises eleven young men and women. They strike a dignified pose in a makeshift Oklahoma Territory photographer's studio. Small dogs can be seen on the laps of two of the women. An additional dog (or possibly a cat) sits in the foreground.
The photographer J. F. Shore was active in Oklahoma about 1900.
Condition Description
Albumen photograph print, mounted on card. Cabinet card format. Some staining to image and mount, especially to left side of photograph. Else generally good. Signed in print on the mount: "J. F. Shore / Cushing, O. T."
