Description

Scarce early view of Louisville's waterfront.

The J.B. Speed Art Museum catalog dates the map to circa 1859 and states that the view is taken from the mouth of Beargrass Creek at Preston's Landing.

The image shows horse-drawn carriages, people milling around, smoke coming from chimneys and smoke stacks of buildings and boats.

Publication information notes: "Noel del; Imp. Ch. Chardon aine. Paris.; Ch. Colin sc."
