Description
Handsome decorative map of Frisia, engraved by Abraham Goos, and published by Nicholas Visscher I in Amsterdam in 1649.
The borders feature plans of 13 fortified Friesland & Groningen towns. The corners feature the local dress in three locations, and a fourth shows the old manner of garb in Frisia.
The map was first issued in 1628. He based the cartography on that of the 1622 map by Adriaan Metius and Gerard Freitag.
