Description

Brightly colored and highly detailed view of the Boston extending to Cambridge and Charlestown, published by Alva Scott Garfield.

Map is filled with historical vignettes, and both humorous and historical notes. Extends from Boston University at upper left corner to the Bunker Hill Monument at upper right corner with the central city area and Northeastern University and the New England Conservatory of Music above the cartouche.

Locates the Sears Roebuck building, John Hancock building, Custom House and more. Decorated by a compass rose and border featuring cod.

The title continues:  "And this is good old Boston, The home of the beans & the cod; Where the Lowells speak only to Cabots, And the Cabots speak only to God."
