Promoting Tourism in Alaska
Fine pictorial map of Alaska, by the well-regarding pictorial map artist Don Bloodgood.
Includes inset maps of Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau and Ketchikan.
An interesting whimsical pictorial map of Alaska, illustrating the tourist attractions, national parks, Indian villages, natural wonders, roads and some historical details within the state.
Don Bloodgood's work spanned a number of regions, including California, Hawaii, Texas, Minnesota Alaska and Arizona, with most maps relating to tourism. His career spanned from the 1930s to the early 1960s.
As with so many of Bloodgood's pictorial maps, they weren't just decorative maps, but his maps tap into the culture and life of the region, and reveal how the area would have been experienced at the time.
