Description

A fantastic little modeled-leather binding featuring an owl in a clocktower (?) as its central design. Redolent of German gothic revival at the end of the 19th century.

Condition Description
32mo. Full brown calf, modeled on front cover (with gilt lettering and stamping), panelled in blind on back cover. Spine separated into 6 compartments by raised bands. Gilt metal clasp. Decorative navy and gold printed endpapers (finely ribbed). Manuscript dedication on first flyleaf dated December 1891 ("18. XII. 91."). Housed in custom gilt- and blind-tooled leather clamshell case.
