Very nice example of this rare atlas of Washington, the District of Columbia, along with Alexandria (renamed Arlington in 1920) County, Fairfax County, Montgomery County, Prince George County, and plans of cities and villages in each.

Wonderful atlas with district maps that show the location of railroads and land ownership. Lewinsville and Langley, now both part of McLean, are in Providence District Number 5 in Fairfax County. The Mackall House is shown on Georgetown Turnpike.

The residences of William S. Smoot (Salona) and George F.M. Walters (Hickory Hill) are shown in Langley, the latter of which became associated with the Kennedy family after it was bought by John F. Kennedy in 1955 and then became the home of Robert F. Kennedy.

The residence of Alice Linthicum, now Dumbarton Oaks, is located in Georgetown.

In Anacostia, "Fred Douglas" (Frederick Douglass) is noted as the homeowner of an L-shaped house at the corner of Pierce and Jefferson Streets (Cedar Hill).

In Alexandria County, Balls Crossroads (Balls X Roads) is on the site of present-day Arlington's Ballston neighborhood.

This is one of the few county atlases published for Virginia counties.
