Description

Wonderful bird's-eye view map of Glacier National Park, prepared by McGill-Warner in 1914 for Great Northern Railway.

The map follows the style of the time of rendering landscape views as if one was viewing them from an airplane. This novel way of contextualizing a map image was popular from the 1910s to the 1920s as passenger air travel was becoming more well known, if not widespread.

This map was preceded by a similar image in 1913, which did not make such a specific reference to airplanes.
