Rare Dutch Royal Military Academy Map of the Dutch East Indies
Finely lithographed map of the Dutch East Indies, published by the Koninklijke Militaire Academie (Dutch Royal Military Academy).
The map credits cadets W. Beyerinck, J.M. Bruyn and J.F.W.A. Essers for the preparation of the map.
The Royal Military Academy (KMA) is the service academy for the Dutch Army, the Dutch Air Force and the Royal Marechaussee. Located in Breda, Southern Netherlands, the KMA was established in 1828, at a time when many European nations were formalizing military training in dedicated military academies.
Rarity
The map is apparently quite rare. This is the only example we have ever seen offered for sale.
