Gorgeous engraved celestial plate by Johann Zahn, published in Nuremberg in 1696.

The plate shows a Classical interpretation of the cosmos, with Geocentric Solar System as the center (with Venus and Mercury rotating around the Sun, but the Sun around the Earth, derived from the Leiden Aratea or a similar document), surrounded by elements of the firmament - celestial water, fire, etc.

In addition to celestial phenomena, the image shows the "geocosmos", the "atmo-cosmos" (the atmosphere), the "urano-cosmos", etc.

An impressive 17th-century celestial image.
