Description

Excellent pictorial map of Midtown Manhattan produced by Anderson Isometric Maps in 1980.

These so-called axonometric maps followed in the tradition of city mapping established by the likes of Trugot and Braun & Hogenberg, rendering buildings with a fixed perspective to give a heightened sense of a real-life 3D city.

A note in the upper-right corner tells us a little bit about the history of the production of the map:

This map covers midtown Manhattan and includes the high-rise office towers that form the busiest section of the city. The original artwork, started in nineteen hundred sixty-one, was gradually updated following the greatest building boom in history.
