Description
Very rare 19th-century guidebook and map to Santa Barbara and vicinity.
The map covers the city of Santa Barbara, Montecito, and the surrounding coast, from Carpinteria to present-day Isla Vista and UC Santa Barbara (at the time the site of a labeled Asphalt Mine).
Rarity
The pamphlet is very rare. OCLC locates an example of an 1894 edition in microfilm only, as well as a 1904 edition, but not this 1898 edition.
This is the only example of the pamphlet that we can locate.
